Six Decades of Legacy: The Humble Journey of Owens Supply Co.

In 1956, war hero Dwight Eisenhower raced for the Presidency, Elvis Presley released his second album, and 27-year-old Harry Owens joined Shuman Supply Company, marking the beginning of Owens Supply Company's legacy. Harry purchased 25% of the company in 1963. Sixty years later, generations gathered to celebrate Owens Supply Company's success.

The early days weren't easy, with the "old store" requiring manual unloading of railcars. Harry and his brother expanded the business in Columbia and Ridgeland, SC. In 1994, Owens Supply got a new building, and Harry retired, passing the reins to the next generation.

Mrs. Marcia McCoy, joining in 1976, exemplifies the company's enduring values. In 1994, she married Terry McCoy, who started from the warehouse. Annette McCoy Bacon, Terry's sister, ran the warehouse with him. Despite the 2008 financial crisis, Owens Supply weathered the storm and rebounded stronger.

Terry McCoy's sudden passing in 2018 marked a sad moment, but his spirit lives on in the company. The Owens-McCoy family, rooted in faith, emphasizes community and business integrity. The family expanded the business with cabinets and bath fixtures, creating Storehouse Salvage in 2014. Despite challenges, the company's success is a testament to their commitment to customers and community.
